M3 is an AMC (actively managed certificate) traded at the Swiss stock exchange for the investment on the stock market. At its launch, the investors are the fund initiators, their families and friends. M3 is available for sale and can be purchased and sold on every trading day.
M3 combines the assessment of the macro situation with the selection of companies from the perspective of private-equity investors. Adapted to today’s capital market environment, M3 continues the strategies implemented in the previous funds Mellinckrodt 1 and 2.
What is new—our collaboration with U.S. stock exchange expert Larry McDonald. His research—standard at large U.S. investment companies—and his personal expertise are part of the investment process.
Professional investors can purchase Larry McDonald’s research through us in different packages.
In addition, we are happy to assist with the implementation of investment structures in Switzerland. Our excellent network enables us to implement a number of interesting concepts for investors from all over the world.
Ninety seconds: our investment strategy in a nutshell.
Daniel Flaig and Georg Oehm present the highlights of the Mellinckrodt strategy.
Mellinckrodt’s investment process is based on the initiators’ background, which is unique for investment vehicles with a focus on stocks.
In contrast to many other fund managers, the initiators are not trained bankers from the fields of securities trading, stock analysis, or sales.
Having advised on and executed numerous company acquisitions and sales as well as a large number of initial public offerings (IPOs) in Germany and Switzerland over the past 25 years, they draw on longstanding and extensive experience in the private-equity business. An important focus of our activities has always been the medium- and long-term strategic development of companies.
”We are substantially invested in M3. In the past 25 years, we have assisted with and single-handedly performed numerous corporate acquisitions and sales as well as a number of initial public offerings (IPOs) in Germany and Switzerland. We met during the transaction WMF 15 years ago. Our longstanding, successful collaboration brought about the idea to start the Mellinckrodt fund. We continue this cooperation with M3.”
The investment strategy was implemented in the Mellinckrodt 1 SICAV between 2010 and 2013 but, at the time, was only available to professional investors.
Due to the change in capital market regulations, the decision was made in 2013 to change the legal structure. From December 2013 to late 2019, the Mellinckrodt 2 SICAV was available for purchase as a regular public UCITS fund.
Due to various changes on the capital market and in political parameters, we decided in late 2019 to discontinue operations at the Luxembourg location and to liquidate Mellinckrodt 2 SICAV.
From the beginning of 2020, investments in stocks through M3 will be made directly from Switzerland with an advanced investment process.
